About Us

Edema Support Foundation Uganda is dedicated to raising awareness, advocating for better care, and providing affordable, locally sourced solutions for managing edema across Africa. We collaborate with communities, healthcare providers, and policymakers to empower individuals with edema, ensuring access to quality care and sustainable economic opportunities.

OUR STORY

Our journey began with firsthand experience in the field. In September 2024, we participated in three medical camps at Bugema Hospital and Rukunyu General Hospital in Kamwenge District. During these camps, we witnessed the harsh reality faced by many edema and lymphedema patients—some missed treatment simply because they couldn’t afford essential management supplies like bandages and foam paddings. Those who received care often relied on family members pooling resources to cover the costs. Seeing this struggle firsthand, we realized that managing edema should not be a privilege—it is a human right.
Determined to create a sustainable solution, we set out to locally produce affordable, high-quality edema management supplies using readily available materials. By training artisans and healthcare workers, we reduce reliance on costly imports while fostering economic empowerment. Through advocacy, we push for the integration of edema care into national healthcare policies, ensuring that no patient is left behind.
