Testimony of  A Journey from Despair to Hope

Kajjansi, Uganda
" I am a proud survivor of lymphedema.

There was a time when I had completely given up on life. My leg was so swollen and heavy, it felt like I was carrying a burden I could no longer bear. I stopped going to work, I withdrew from my community, and I lost hope that anything could change. Every day was a painful reminder of what I had lost — my mobility, my dignity, and my purpose.

But then, God sent angels my way.

With the loving care and unwavering support of Bugema University Hospital and the Edema Support Foundation Uganda, I found new life. They didn’t just treat me medically — they embraced me emotionally and spiritually. Through their programs, I received not only physical care but also education on self-care management. I was given the tools and the confidence to take back control of my body and my life.

Thanks to their continued encouragement and the blessing of ongoing support in education, I was able to resume my role as a teacher — a profession I hold dear to my heart. Being back in the classroom, inspiring young minds, and standing with strength and pride in front of my students is something I thought I would never do again.

Today, I walk with purpose, I teach with joy, and I live with hope.

To everyone out there struggling with chronic conditions like mine, please don’t give up. Help is out there. Healing is possible. And your life is still worth living.

Thank you Bugema University Hospital. Thank you Edema Support Foundation Uganda. You gave me my life back."
